DOWA obtained permission to install a new controlled landfill facility at ECO-SYSTEM HANAOKA
DOWA ECO-SYSTEM CO., LTD. (Headquarters: 14-1 Sotokanda 4-chome, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Capital: 1 billion yen; President: Minoru Tobita; hereinafter “DOWA ECO-SYSTEM”) obtained permission to install a new controlled landfill facility at ECO-SYSTEM HANAOKA CO., LTD. (Headquarters: 42 Tsutsumisawa, Hanaoka-machi, Odate-shi, Akita; Capital: 0.3 billion yen; President: Masanori Shimofusa; hereinafter “ECO-SYSTEM HANAOKA”) on December 12, 2017.
In Japan, the reduction and recycling of waste are being promoted. However, some waste is difficult to use effectively in terms of economic rationality and environmental safety. Therefore, safe and secure landfill facilities are an important part of the social infrastructure.
DOWA ECO-SYSTEM has been operating a controlled landfill facility at ECO-SYSTEM HANAOKA since 1987. At the landfill facility, we have received waste such as incineration residual ashes from waste treatment incinerators of the DOWA Group as well as of municipalities including Odate-shi, where ECO-SYSTEM HANAOKA is located.
For the controlled landfill facility for which we have newly obtained permission for installation at ECO-SYSTEM HANAOKA, we are planning to manage and monitor landfilled waste in the long term adopting a water shielding structure that uses double synthetic rubber sheets and water leakage detection systems.
With the construction of the new controlled landfill facility, the DOWA Group will make its remaining landfill capacity over about 2.5 million m3, including the controlled landfill facility located in Kosaka-machi, next to Odate-shi. We will continue to provide stable waste management in the long term.
DOWA ECO-SYSTEM will continue to promote the strengthening of environmental management and recycling services, including the appropriate treatment and recycling of waste, and contribute to global environmental conservation.
