DOWA Commenced Operation of DESI, Its Second Treatment Site in Indonesia
PT. DOWA Eco System Indonesia (DESI, East Java, Republic of Indonesia) held an opening ceremony on January 27, 2023 for its treatment site in Lamongan Regency, for which construction started in 2021, and started accepting waste on January 31, 2023.
DESI is the DOWA Group’s second waste treatment site in Indonesia. With a site area of 540,000 m2 (planned), it has a secured waste landfill which can accept hazardous waste, and it will also carry out recycling using several methods, including waste segregation, blending, and detoxification. Going forward, DESI will work together with PT. Prasadha Pamunah Limbah Industri (PPLi, West Java, Republic of Indonesia), the first treatment site, to establish a system providing comprehensive waste management services in East and West Java, where Indonesia's population and industry are most concentrated, and further enhance services to cover areas outside Java.
The opening ceremony was attended by an assistant deputy minister of Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the regent of Lamongan Regency, Japan’s consulate-general in Surabaya, and many other guests, who offered words of expectation and encouragement for the future.
